"All structures should be fused to their place physically and
psychologically. Whether a
simple renovation or new construction,
design efforts should consistently focus on the
idea of manifesting
the Genus Loci, or 'spirit of place'." -Dave McClelland

addition to his architectural design experience, which has been concentrated in high-end
residential design, he has also held the position of adjunct professor of lighting design at
ETSU,
and project manager of a design-build firm specializing in custom interior
environments.
Complimenting his professional background are degrees in Architecture, and
Environmental Design earned from Ball State University in 1998. He has also studied
studio arts extensively at both Frostburg State University, Frostburg Maryland and ETSU
in Johnson City Tennessee. Highlighting his academic accomplishments are attendance
of the Technical University of
Berlin, Berlin Germany, and collaboration with the
Chicago
based artist, John David Mooney on a series of garden sculptures for the Papal Observatory, Vatican City, Italy.
Though Dave is originally from South Western Pennsylvania his desire to find where he
best fit motivated him to “try out” various locations within the U.S. upon his graduation
from Ball State. These travels took him to Lansing Michigan, Portland Oregon, and
Frostburg Maryland before the pursuit of a MFA Degree at ETSU brought him to find his
permanent home in the Tri-Cities area of Eastern Tennessee. It is here where he planted
his roots, met his beautiful wife Logan and started a family with the addition of their
daughter Ruby in January of 2009.
