Asheville Group Under Contract for Lizzie Borden House Purchase

A historical home, infamously known as the spot of a brutal murder, is now under contract by an entertainment company in the mountains.

Asheville Terrors, a part of U.S. Ghost Adventures, is under contract to buy the Lizzie Borden Bed and Breakfast and Museum located in Fall River, Massachusetts, a press release from the company says.

The company announced the acquisition, adding that it would expand the company's portfolio which already offers over 30 ghost tour experiences across the country. Visitors will be able to tour the home and stay overnight in one of six rooms.

“We look forward to adding the Lizzie Borden house to our growing portfolio of haunted experiences and working with the staff to create new opportunities for guests,” said Lance Zaal in a news release, who founded the company in 2018. “We have exciting plans for the house that we’ll announce in June. A healthy transition for the staff and preserving the historical site are our top priorities.”

The company says Zaal was approved for the licenses to operate the museum on March 24.

To celebrate, Asheville Terrors is holding a sweepstakes that will offer transportation and a complimentary two-night stay at the Lizzie Borden House. To enter the sweepstakes, the company tells people to enter promo code “Borden” when booking a ghost tour in one of 30 cities listed on the US Ghost Adventures website through June 1, 2021, including nearby Boston Ghosts and Salem Ghosts for a chance to win.

The historical Massachusetts house is most famously known as the home of Lizzie Borden, whose father Andrew and stepmother Abby gruesomely murdered with a hatchet in 1892. Lizzie was accused of the murders and her trial drew national attention. She was then acquitted in 1893 as evidence being brought against her was circumstantial.

Asheville Terrors says Borden's home is "renowned for its hauntings and has been featured in movies, books, music, and numerous TV shows."
